September is Day One release month with Pizza Possum and more!

September is a month stacked with Day One releases on Utomik! We’ve lined up not one, not two, but three amazing games that are playable directly on the release date. The first one will already come out this week, but make sure to read up and mark your calendar for the others! We already teased these games before, so you may recognize these from Gamescom…

September 14: Ugly

Beyond the surface of this cartoony game lies a dark fairy tale! In Ugly, you’ll work your way through a variety of puzzling chambers to unravel the truth of what happened to a mysterious nobleman. Play around the creative mirror mechanic to tackle the puzzles of the mansion, which vary in difficulty and approach. Some will even allow you to solve them in multiple ways, which means everyone has a different experience.

Ugly is a 2D platformer with heart, much like Spiritfarer, Hue, and Whispering Willows. Embark on an adventure filled with exploration, and piece together the ugly truth hidden behind a traumatic past. The puzzle rooms are bite-sized, while every new piece of information you find will alter the bigger picture you’re trying to shed light on.

For the completionists and hardcore explorers: this game may or may not have a secret ending…

September 21: Evolings

The cutest creature collector game is on its way to Utomik! But looks can be deceiving: Evolings is an action roguelike with plenty of strategy involved. To top it off, the same strategy may not work twice, since every playthrough is different. The game will generate new, unique maps for endless excitement.

While Evolings is accessible, you can also go pretty far with your little creatures—and they pack a punch! What we’re extra happy about, though, is that the turn-based strategy means we can take our time to plan ahead while staring at (and getting distracted by) our adorable Evolings. This amount of cuteness stuffed into every pixel of the pixel art sprites is something we don’t see too often with roguelikes.

The game will immortalize all your tooth-rottingly cute teams in its own Hall of Fame for you to look back on. Will you be able to discover all the unique Evolings and master them all?

September 28: Pizza Possum

Ever wanted to just exist, stuff your face, and run for the hills with your bounty? Get ready for a sweet arcade experience with Pizza Possum! This hilarious action game can be played in co-op for twice the chaos. In Pizza Possum, you’ll run around causing havoc in a vibrant 3D world, stealing food from both suspecting and unsuspecting victims. Despite the mayhem, you will have to play stealthily if you want to avoid getting caught (or missing out on those delicious pizza slices…drool.) But hey, who says you can’t use the madness to your advantage?

Pizza Possum is cheeky and wholesome at once, with a cast of furry and fluffy characters as colorful as the world they inhabit. The focus is to eat as much as you can, but what else can you steal? Will you antagonize the dogs and nab their precious belongings while you’re at it, or chase down flailing geese and pigs for more snacks? You may get the tastiest of endings by going a little out of your way!

We think Pizza Possum is ‘possum’-tively awesome—we can recommend it if you like Supermarket Shriek, Biped, or Joggernauts on Utomik, too!
