Be the first to play Ugly, Day ONE on Utomik!

One of the beloved trial games available during Gamescom is now officially live as a full Day One release on Utomik! Get to know this nobleman’s troubled past which can only be unraveled by you, so get exploring. Word of warning: this is a 2D platformer adventure where not all is what it seems. As curious as we are? Read more below.

Ugly

Your body is a temple, but what about your mind? Delve deep into the traumatized past of an enigmatic nobleman in Ugly. If you hope to piece together the ugly truth, you will have to face jarring puzzle rooms and towering boss battles.

With unique mirror mechanisms to work with, every puzzling chamber of his mansion will bring you closer to the truth hidden beneath the surface. But what if it was best left buried forever? You will have to keep your eyes peeled; there are many hidden rooms and nooks that could change the entire narrative of what you’ve figured out so far. Psst, there may be a secret ending.

This twisted fairy tale has a variety of unique chambers offering anything from brain teasers to more challenging mazes. Not just that, but Ugly doesn’t force any one answer. Puzzles can sometimes be solved in different ways. Exploration and analytical thinking pay off, as you will constantly be progressing through new parts of the mansion while you discover what the big picture really looks like.

What amazed us the most about Ugly is how compact the game feels. Each puzzle room is bite-sized and rewarding, and the secrets scattered around the mansion kept us on our toes. The style is slightly cartoony with enough color to make the visuals pop, yet it still fits perfectly with the dark fairy tale vibe the game is going for.

Even if you find out the truth, will you be able to face it? Find out today on Utomik! You’ll be sure to appreciate Ugly if you like any of these other games also available on the platform: Spiritfarer, Evan’s Remains, Whispering Willows, or Hue!
